Man United coach Benni McCarthy has revealed why Jadon Sancho refused to apologize to the club’s manager Erik ten Hag.

Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho clashed mid-way through the 2023-24 season, leading to the rustication of the player from the squad.

The fallout ensued when Ten Hag Sancho drop from Man United Premier League clash against Arsenal early in the campaign. Things went worse when Sancho took to social media to blast the Dutch for scapegoating him. He was suspended from the squad and later loaned out to Borussia Dortmund after refusing to apologise.

McCarthy, who is among United’s coaching staff said he had personally spoke to Sancho amidst the fallout and the atter had gave him his reasons for refusing to apologise.

‘If you’re from the streets, no one wants to apologise,’ said McCarthy. ‘You admit you are not training well, you are lazy, everything you are accused of. Jadon wasn’t going to have that

“The manager has a strong character and just said that all he wants is an apology. Jadon thought that he had done nothing wrong. He didn’t see why he had to apologise. Sometimes you have to apologise, because a player will never win against a manager.

‘‘I spoke to Jadon as a coach, as a mentor, as a friend, and as someone who grew up on the streets and knows the code.

‘’But Jadon just wasn’t seeing it. He said, “I ain’t apologising because if I do, I’m apologising for being lazy, always being late, not giving my best – that’s what I’m apologising for”. Those were his reasons,” McCarthy said.

After leaving Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho turned his footballing fortunes around, shining bright as Borussia Dortmund reach the 2023-24 Champions League final.
