The top defender has been one of Pep Guardiola’s top transfer targets this summer but the two clubs involved are yet to reach an agreement to enable the Spanish to join Man City.

According to multiple sources, Man City are ready to offer around £35 million to land Marc Cucurella this summer but Brighton are asking for £50 million which Man City believe is too high.

Although Brighton have no desire to release Marc Cucurella, the left back is interested in joining the six times English Premier League champions ahead of next season. Should the English Premier League champions fail to sign the top defender this summer, then Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa is another option for Man City after the imminent departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal this week.

According to a German newspaper, BILD, Manchester City are watching out for the situation with the Croatia defender who moved to Stuttgart from Dinamo Zagreb in 2018.

Borna Sosa has been a great addition to the club since his arrival and could be on his way out after spending four years with the German Bundesliga club. The report reveals that Stuttgart are willing to release Borna Sosa this summer and they will even accept an offer of around £21m for the left-back.

However, Man City are not the only club interested in signing the left back as they will face competition from German Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich and Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.

The two top European teams have all shown interest in securing the services of the 24-year-old this summer. The English Premier League champions currently have just one recognized left back which is Joao Cancelo and Pep Guardiola will be looking to strengthen the left side of his defense before the start of next season.

Man City have been one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as they have sold and signed new players this summer. The Sky Blues have released their striker Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal, Raheem Sterling to Chelsea, Oleksandr Zinchenko also moved to Arsenal, and goalkeeper Zack Steffen to Middleborough.

However, they have replaced these players with the signings of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, Julian Alvarez from River Plate, Kalvin Philips from Leeds United, and Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld.

Pep Guardiola is ready to add a new left-back to his squad before the closure of the current summer transfer window. Manchester City will be looking to win their third English Premier League title in three consecutive years as they prepare for the next campaign.
