Liverpool star Luis Diaz will not be available for competitive football untill after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Luis Diaz of Liverpool is expected to miss the upcoming World Cup due to a knee injury he suffered during Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal.

The 25-year-old Colombian international will not play for the Reds again until after the World Cup, despite not needing surgery following a scan on Monday.

Due to the knee injury, Luis Diaz will miss the Reds’ subsequent 10 games. Even though the injury doesn’t require surgery, coach Jurgen Klopp will now be without one of his best players for over two months at a time Liverpool are struggling to win games.

During Liverpool’s match at the Emirates, Diaz had been a genuine threat for the majority of the first half, and he helped Darwin Nunez score Liverpool’s first equalizer.

However, he only played for 42 minutes before being replaced by Roberto Firmino, who went on to score the second equalizer. After the game was over, Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that the injury was “not good.”

Diaz, who has been one of Liverpool’s better players throughout a lackluster start to the season, limped out of Emirates Stadium just before halftime when Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey collided with his knee. He was wearing a knee brace and departed the stadium on crutches.

Luis Diaz has played eight games for Liverpool this season, with seven shots on goal, three goals, two great chances created, and two assists provided for teammates.

As it stand, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been sidelined due to different degrees of injuries.

Recall that Alexander-Arnold had to exit the field with an ankle injury last weekend after being caught by Gabriel Martinelli as the Arsenal forward fired a cross from the left side of the box.

How Liverpool had suffered due to injury;

In the 2020–21 season, coach Jurgen Klopp’s team was a shadow of what it once was, even losing six consecutive top-flight home games at one point because they were unable to execute their gegenpressing strategies and were forced to use his midfield players as improvised center-backs.

The squad has experienced a similar run of injuries this season, making it difficult for Klopp to rotate his players as often as he would have liked, including by employing the new five-substitute rule he long advocated.

More players have now visited the physiotherapy room as a result. Luis Diaz and Alexander-Arnold were both forced to leave the Emirates due to significant injuries, while new loanee Arthur Melo has now missed three months of play after recently ripping his quad in training.

With so few choices to fill their spot in the team, Klopp hasn’t always been able to give out-of-shape players like Alexander-Arnold a much-needed break away from the spotlight.

When he has chosen to do so, as with Fabinho, he has been compelled to use James Milner, 36, because there weren’t any suitable options.
