Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim to replace Jurgen Klopp as new manager.

Klopp, 56, announced his decision to end his collaboration with Liverpool and take a break from football in January 2024.

And the Reds have been in search of a new hand to take over the soon-to-be-vacant job at Anfield with several high-profile names previously shortlisted for the role.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso was a top candidate for the role with the Liverpool chiefs intent on bringing the Spaniard to Anfield.

However, they were dealt a huge blow when the 41-year-old announced he will continue with Bayer Leverkusen next season following his standout performance with the club.

After Alonso’s snub, Liverpool switched attention to Ruben Amorim, who was among the leading candidates to take over the role.

We reported earlier the Reds had opened talks with Amorim and sources close to the Portuguese revealed he was open to leaving Sporting Lisbon at the end of the season amidst the Liverpool links.

Speaking ahead of Sporting Lisbon’s top-of-the-table clash with Benfica on Saturday, Amorim refused to rule out a move to Anfield, stating categorically he has yet to give assurances on his future with the club.

Now, according to reports from Sky Germany, Liverpool, who sped up the move for the 39-year-old, have brokered an agreement on personal terms with the former Braga manager.

The report adds the Reds have agreed a three-year contract with Amorim, and are ready to trigger his release clause which will be active this summer.

Amorim, who has been one of the breakout young managers in Europe alongside Xabi Alonso, was also on Bayern Munich managerial shortlist with Thomas Tuchel set to leave this summer.

He was also linked to Chelsea amidst Mauricio Pochettino’s stuttering run with the Blues this season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have denied reports of the said agreement with Amorim, describing as “inaccurate” as they are still exploring other options for the job.
