Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi couldn’t hide his displeasure when he criticized the way the Catalan giant lost 2-1 at home to Osasuna in their last La Liga home game.

The six-times world footballer of the year burst out a post-match interview saying that kind of performance won’t give the Blaugrana the Champions League trophy this season. Barca has relinquished the league title they have been wining since 2012 to Real Madrid.

Lionel Messi did not hold back after seeing Barcelona losing the title on Thursday night, blasting his team for being ‘erratic and weak’ in a shock defeat at home to Osasuna.

This performance can’t win us the Champions League – Lionel Messi

With the La Liga trophy out of there hands, Barcelona will shift their attention to the Champions League. They will be welcoming Napoli to the Camp Nou for the return leg of the last-16 game after playing 1-1 draw in Naples.

Messi, who scored the team’s only goal of the game did not hold back in his words, calling the Barca side erratic and weak after suffering 1-2 shocking loss.

He, therefore, stated that performance level must improve quickly if they are to have a chance of winning the Champions League.

Real Madrid won their 34th La Liga trophy after beating Villarreal 2-1. Regardless of the result, with a game left, Madrid would have lifted the trophy after Barca slumped to defeat against a ten-men Osasuna.

‘This game represents the entire year. We have been an erratic and weak team.

‘Madrid did its part by winning all its matches, which is impressive, but we also helped them to win this league. We have to be critical of how we have played, starting with the players, and the rest of the club. We have lost because of our mistakes and not because of Madrid’s successes, as many say.

‘The feeling on this team is that it tries, but that it cannot get the job done. Today in the first half they were better than we were and it seems we have to fall behind to react like we tried to do in the second half.’

Barcelona lost the title to the Galaticos after leading the league with two points before the league went on break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On the return of the league, Madrid was motivated and in shape, recording 10 straight wins to take the title from their closest rival.

Barcelona, on the other hand, after the restart drew three matches to lose the lead. The loss on Thursday was Barca’s home match loss first since November 2018.
