Ben White will be returning to the Amex Stadium after a bid from Leeds for him was rejected by Brighton.

White impressed while on loan at Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa’s men secured promotion. His current boss, Graham Potter, is keen on bringing him back to the south coast in order to bolster his squad. The seagulls were hovering just about the drop zone for the majority of the last campaign and will be looking to change that.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were also among the clubs tracking White’s progress and reports have suggested that Chelsea have now identified the centre-back as a possible option to help improve their defence.

White’s contract at Brighton runs until June 2022 with the defender having signed a one-year extension to his deal last summer before heading to Leeds for his season-long loan spell.

Sky have also reported that White has since rejected two new contract offers.

It remains to be seen if Leeds plan to return with a fresh offer for the youngster. But it does appear that they have received a little reason for encouragement.

He publicly thanked everyone at Leeds last week, in which hinted he has some decisions to make about his future.

“Having had some time to reflect on what has been the most incredible season I wanted to take the time to thank everyone associated with Leeds United Football Club, including the incredible supporters,” White wrote.

“No matter what happens from here I will never forget the way you took me in and treated me as one of your own from day one. These memories and experiences will be with me forever.”

White is a man in demand and Brighton should be bracing themselves up for his departure especially of any of the leagues’ elite comes with a bigger offer for him.

Having said that, Brighton will try and do everything in their power to keep him at the club.
