Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Luis Diaz is back to Liverpool training after the kidnap saga but may not be available for selection immediately.

Klopp said he will not press for Luis Diaz to be back to action or include him on starting lineup but will allow him decide whether he is ready to play or not following his parents’ kidnap incident.

Luis Diaz has been instrumental for Liverpool so far this term but was excused from the squad when news his parents’ kidnap in Northern Colombia filtered in.

He missed Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, including EFL Cup win over Bournemouth. However, he is back to Liverpool training ahead of the game against Luton on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

While the top talent may be eager to return to action, Jurgen Klopp has admitted he has given him the latitude to pick his return date.

The decision by Jurgen Klopp is in solidarity to the youngster whose Dad, Manuel Diaz, is still under the custody of the hoodlums.

The kidnappers reportedly acousted the parents of the Liverpool star on Saturday last week and kidnapped them on gunpoint.

According to reports from Colombian outlets, Luis Diaz’s mum, Cilenis Marulanda, has been found and rescued in Barrancas but his Dad is yet to be found.

“We will wait to see how he is and go from there,” Klopp said.

“We will not force the situation – it’s out of our hands,” he added.

“If he feels right, he will train with us. When he’s with the boys he’s fine but you can tell he hasn’t slept a lot.

“He was in training two days ago and yesterday did a session.”

As of the time of filing this report, the search and rescue operation for Luis Diaz’s father is ongoing with the Colombian promising a compensation of up to £40,000 to any whistleblower that will aid the rescue of Manuel Diaz.
