Julian Nagelsmann has been appointed the manager of Germany national team after Hansi Flick was fired and will head the team until July 2024.

Julian Nagelsmann Has Been Appointed As Germany Manager

Julian Nagelsmann, 36, replaces Hansi Flick, who has been relieved of his duties following a poor run of form and also losing 4-1 to Japan in a friendly match earlier this month.

The German coach has been unemployed since he was fired as Bayern Munich coach and was replaced with Thomas Tuchel after two years in charge.

Recall we reported that Germany will host next summer’s European Championship finals, which run from 14 June to 14 July 2024.

Speaking on the appointment, the German said: “We have a European Championship in our own country. That’s something special – something that happens every few decades.”

Julian Nagelsmann added: “I have a great desire to take on this challenge. We will be a close-knit group next year.”

Julian Nagelsmann will be in charge of the team as they face United States in Connecticut on 14 October before they face Mexico in Philadelphia three days later.

German Football Association sporting director Rudi Voller said: “Julian Nagelsmann was our preferred candidate as national coach when the search began.”

“He is not only an absolute football expert, but has already proven in all his positions – at a very young age for a head coach – that he can motivate and inspire a team and the entire environment.”

“His fire for football is noticeable and contagious.”

Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann, a German professional football manager and former player, was most recently the head coach of Bundesliga team Bayern Munich (born 23 July 1987).

Before joining Powerhouse Bayern Munich, Nagelsmann has previously led RB Leipzig and 1899 Hoffenheim.

He is regarded as one of the greatest young managers in international football and is well known for his diversity with formations, ability to keep possession, and use of the “gegenpress.”

He was born in the Bavarian town of Landsberg am Lech and the German was the U17 squad captain for Munich and had youth playing experience with FC Augsburg and 1860 Munich.

Julian Nagelsmann was a member of the second team in the 2006–07 campaign, although he did not play because of injuries.

Nagelsmann rejoined Augsburg for the 2007–08 season under Thomas Tuchel’s leadership but suffered a second meniscus and knee injury that damaged his cartilage.

He made the decision to retire from football at the age of 20 as a result. In the first part of 2008, he had already worked as a scout for his head coach Thomas Tuchel.

He spent four semesters in business administration at the university before switching to sports science.

He then focused on coaching, going back to his old team 1860 Munich where, from 2008 to 2010, he served as Alexander Schmidt’s assistant for Munich’s U17 squad.

Bayern Munich replaced Hansi Flick as head coach on April 27, 2021, and began a five-year contract with Nagelsmann on July 1, 2021, paying a then-record managerial transfer fee of €25,000,000.

In the Bundesliga, Nagelsmann’s debut game ended in a 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

How Good Is Nagelsmann?

Julian Nagelsmann was formerly called “PR Stunt” when he started off his coaching career but has gone on to prove everyone wrong.

He literally turned down Real Madrid’s request before he turned 31 and was most wanted by Chelsea and Tottenham.

In 2016 when he was made manager of Hoffenheim’s first team, the local press pack weren’t pulling any punches for the then-28-year-old.

Just a few years after, the youngest manager in Bundesliga history turned down Real Madrid’s request before he turned 31, managed Bayern Munich afterward, and is now Germany’s national team coach.
