Jules Kounde, a defender for Barcelona, turned down a move to Chelsea earlier this summer in favor of joining the Spanish team.
The transfer rumors were widely reported because Barcelona was having budgetary problems and was trying to resolve its unstable financial situation.
Chelsea was on the verge of signing the defender, but Barcelona requested Kounde to hold off until they could get the necessary finances.
It’s still a difficult agreement, and some Chelsea experts still find it odd that Barcelona was able to get the money so quickly.
Kounde missed the first two games of the season since the team was over the League’s wage cap restriction and the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang assisted them. After joining the club, Kounde had some trouble getting his name listed on the La Liga squad sheet due to the financial crisis at the club.
What did the Twitter Troll say?
The Twitter troll named KalyJay quoted a Tweet by the French International which depicted that he was sad or in a sad mood and asked if hasn’t received his salary yet. Given the sad emojis on the tweet and what transpired before Kounde transferred to Barca, it was a thing of concern to ask if he is yet to be paid.
What did Jules Kounde say?
Jules Kounde uncontrollably responded to the troll that he has been paid in full. This cannot be ascertained as Spanish Giants Barcelona recently plunged into a debt mess and owed some players.
This included Frenkie De Jong who rejected an offer far better than what he earns at Barcelona to join Manchester United in a bid to secure his full pay.
Jules Olivier Koundé, a French professional footballer who plays as a center back for La Liga Club Barcelona and the France national team, was born on November 12, 1998.
Koundé’s transfer to Sevilla was announced by Barcelona as having taken place on July 29, 2022. Barcelona’s opening La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano was missed by Koundé since the team was unable to sign him because they were in violation of the league’s salary ceiling.
For the same reason, he also skipped Barcelona’s second league game against Real Sociedad on August 21. In a 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid at the Camp Nou, Kounde made his official debut for the team two days after registering with La Liga on August 26.
This summer, despite Barcelona’s struggles with money, the French international turned down a move to Chelsea in favor of joining the Catalan giants.
Kounde was instructed to wait until Barca raised the money necessary to finalize the deal even though Chelsea and Sevilla had agreed on a price for the defender.
The 23-year-old was unable to be registered for the first two games of the season because the club was over the League’s pay cap restriction because of the financial precariousness the LaLiga heavyweights were in.
Kounde completed his registration at Barca after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to Chelsea, and the Frenchman has since made five appearances in all competitions, contributing two assists.
Jules Kounde trolling Chelsea after failed transfer
Chelsea fell 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, and to make matters worse, they received vicious online trolling after the stunning victory.
The Blues pursued Jules Kounde for more than a year, but he eventually signed with Barcelona.
As he disclosed in a scathing Instagram post in response to Chelsea’s loss, he is now relieved with his decision.
“I almost joined them” he joked, with accompanying facepalm.
