It was a rout for Borussia Dortmund as they scored three times in the first half to humble out-of-form Sevilla 4-1 in their Champions League Group G match.

The Bundesliga giants were literally everywhere in the game, dominating and pouring in goals with ease to hand Lapotegu another heavy Champions League defeat at home.

Sevilla have lost their first 2022 Champions League home match against Manchester City with an outrageous margin, with Erling Haaland bagging a brace.

This time, it was Jude Bellingham who made history as he helped Dortmund cruise to a quick and easy win over the La Liga club.

It was Raphael Guerreiro who put the Germans in front with a thunderbolt strike from 16 metres before the 19-year-old England star fired into the far corner.

Jude Bellingham became the youngest club captain to score in the Champions League after speedily picking his pace into the box to deliver the stunning goal for Dortmund.

He also became the first teenage English midfielder to score a goal in three consecutive Champions League matches.

Jude Bellingham was on the score sheet as Borussia Dortmund defeated FC Copenhagen. He also scored the opening goal against Manchester City at the Etihad.

His goal against Sevilla in 2022 Champions League matchday three is his third consecutive goal in the Champions League for Borussia Dortmund this season.

Two minutes from half time, Karim Adeyemi made it 3-0 after a rebound to increase the score margin before the break.

After the break, Sevilla appeared to come back into the game as they pulled one back just six minutes into the second half courtesy of Youssef En-Nesyri strike.

Nevertheless, Borussia Dortmund were still in charge of the game, mounting pressure of another and pushing Sevilla to the box.

In the 75th minute, Brandt delivered a glancing header to sink the hosts and ensured the visitors grabbed the three maximum points.

Dortmund will host Bundesliga giants and defending Champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga in their next Bundesliga fixture.

Sevilla’s game was a perfect laboratory to test the readiness of the team for the much-anticipated clash on Saturday.

The win see Borussia Dortmund climbed to the second spot in Group G with 6 points, three points behind Group leaders Manchester City, who have garnered maximum 9 points form three matches.

Sevilla and Copenhagen have managed only a point from their three matches. Evidently, the two teams will have to battle for a place in the Europe League as their chances of making it to Champions League round 16 gets slimmer.

Meanwhile, Sevilla had relieved their manager of his duty as the coach of the club immediately after the game as Sevilla’s poor performance continues and become more worrying for the club’s management.

Julen Lopetegui will now leave the club after three years in charge since taking over in 2019.

While it was another nightmare for Sevilla, it was a perfect game for Jude Bellingham, who, once again, demonstrated his immense skills to the gallery of his high-profile suitors.

Speaking after receiving man of the match award, Jude Bellingham admitted that Dortmund made the difference in the game by doing what they needed to do as early as possible.

He was referring to the three quick goals that the team scored to smash any hope of Sevilla coming back into the game.

“That was definitely the reaction we wanted to show. I think the difference between today and the other day [against Cologne] is that we did our work early,” Bellingham said.

“Three goals in the first half allows you to be a bit more comfortable in the second. I think that’s a lesson for us going forward.”

Bellingham also thanked a brilliant display by his teammates, especially the defenders and the goalkeeper keeping off Sevilla’s onslaught for most part of the game.

“For a start, the defenders and [keeper] Alex [Meyer] were absolutely brilliant tonight”, he added. “I got this Player of the Match award for the goal and the assist, but I think those guys at the back were a different level.”

Sevilla, struggling in 17th place in La Liga, missed several early chances through En-Nesyri and they were punished when Guerreiro struck with a superb shot.

Sevilla had come close to leveling the scores after the first goal, but Alexander Meyer, Dortmund goalie, made a sensational save to deny the hosts.

Dortmund then fired twice in the space of three minutes to sink the hosts, who are winless in their last ten matches across all competitions.

Brandt headed in the fourth goal as the La Liga club settled for a heavy defeat again in their Champions League campaign this season.
