Jose Mourinho was sent off again as the Portuguese coach received his third red card of the season during an AS Roma game against Cremonese on Tuesday, 28th of February, 2023.

It appears that Jose Mourinho was not pleased with the official, Marco Piccinini’s decision for not giving a foul to his team against Cremonese and his protest was just too much for the referee to overlook.

The Portuguese manager was sent out immediately after losing his temper with the fourth referee in the second half.

Frank Tsadjout’s outstanding goal put Mourinho’s Roma down after just 17 minutes of a terrible first half for Roma.

Mourinho, who has already received a red card this season against Atalanta and Torino, was unable to contain his rage and was later captured on camera at the Giovanni Zini Stadium looking enraged.

The 60-year-old Portuguese declared that he would be looking into legal options and aimed at the authorities by implying that the fourth official’s origins as a resident of Turin had a factor in his red card.

The former Chelsea manager was forced to watch the second half’s match from the stands with his assistant Salvatore Foti, who was also suspended from the sidelines for using swearword towards the other team during their Coppa Italia match.

Due to Roma’s seemingly random loss of points on Tuesday, Mourinho will be suspended and hence unavailable for Sunday’s crucial encounter against Juventus.

Before that game, Cremonese had failed to win in 23 Serie A attempts, and even after their victory, they are still an enormous eight points from safety.

The victory was Cremonese’s first league triumph of the year and their first in the top division since March 1996. They have now defeated Roma twice this year, after eliminating Mourinho from the Coppa Italia.

AS Roma are only three points behind Inter Milan in second place but 21 points behind the lopsided Serie A leaders Napoli. After losing and drawing their last four Serie A games, Mourinho’s team may easily clinch automatic qualification into the Champions League group stages for the next season.

Roma would have returned to the Champions League spots with a victory, but they are still one point behind Lazio, their city rivals, and outside the top four.

They are still in the running for this season’s Europa League and will take on Real Sociedad of Spain in the round of 16 this month.
