Jermain Defoe has raised concerns about the state of his marriage after spending Christmas on the Caribbean Island of St Lucia while his wife Donna stayed at home in Glasgow.

The former Spurs and West Ham player, 40, has been spotted without his wedding band, while Donna, also 40, has unfollowed her husband and gone back to using her maiden name Tierney online.

For eight weeks, neither of them has mentioned the other on social media.

Both have deleted Instagram pictures of their £200,000 wedding from the cover of OK! magazine from last June.

It was revealed by The Sun on Sunday that Defoe had approached a nurse for sex just one month after getting married.

A source said: “The marriage seems to be in trouble. You would think they would want to spend their first Christmas together as husband and wife but they haven’t so things aren’t looking at all good.”

In June of last year, Defoe and Donna got married at the opulent Cliveden House in Berkshire.

The extravagant party was covered in-depth on 14 pages and on the cover of OK! magazine later that month.

At the time, Defoe stated:  “This is my future, this is forever, this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.”

However, The Sun on Sunday reported in October that Jermain Defoe had attempted to seduce a mother for a carousel weeks after his marriage.

At the couple’s £300,000 Glasgow home, Donna has not been seen in some time; it is assumed that she is now staying with her parents close by.

A neighbor revealed: “I haven’t seen her here for ages. I don’t think she’s living there any more.”

Eight weeks ago, during a champagne party for the former striker’s birthday, the couple was last seen together.

Before that, they would frequently post holiday pictures and adoring posts about “Mr and Mrs Defoe” on their Instagram sites.

But there has been a distinct hush for almost two months. With no mention of his wife and only photos of himself in St. Lucia, Defoe has avoided mentioning his wife at all.

One of his supporters postulated: “Bro getting divorced already.”

Donna has only shared photos of her family and herself so far.

Under a photo of her 12-year-old daughter opening Christmas presents, she wished her 8,000 followers “all the love and happiness in the world.”

Defoe wasn’t mentioned, and one follower wrote: “Are you and JD not together any more?”

A few days later, Donna hinted in an Instagram story that she was looking forward to the New Year and was relieved to see 2022 go.

Additionally, she said on Facebook: “Some people will take you out of the rain and dry you off, some will stand with you and some will turn the rain into a hurricane.”

When Jermain Defoe was playing for Rangers in January 2021, Donna approached him and requested a signed football shirt for a charity event.

They got along, and seven months later Jermain Defoe proposed to her in a hotel in Glasgow.

In their penthouse suite, which he had decorated with heart-shaped balloons and rose petals, he spelled out “Marry me” with lights. He then got down on one knee to propose.

Three former England stars, Ledley King, Shaun Wright-Phillips, and Carlton Cole, were among the 360 guests who attended their wedding in June of last year.

After reading that Meghan had slept there on the night of her wedding to Prince Harry, the couple decided to host their three-day wedding celebration at the posh 376-acre Cliveden House.

When Defoe saw Donna approaching the altar, his “eyes immediately started welling up,” according to him, and he was dressed in a cream jacket, black pants, and a bow tie.

Always and Forever by Luther Vandross served as the music for their first dance.

There were fire-eaters, flamethrowers, a Caribbean meal, and a temporary nightclub for the celebrations, which lasted until 7 a.m.

However, a few weeks before the nuptials, he was contacting a nurse and requesting to meet up for sex.

The unnamed nurse alleges that Defoe, who has previously been the subject of adultery rumors, called her last month and insisted she listen to what he had to say. However, she promptly hung up.

Regarding his marital issues, she said: “Donna must have known what he was like when she got with him — surely she looked this man up. He was messaging me within days of getting married to her.”

“As soon as I heard his voice on the phone last month I hung up. I’m so happy to be done and dusted with all of it.”

“It doesn’t matter who he is or how much money he’s got, there’s no way I’d be in a relationship with a man like him.”

For England, Defoe scored 20 goals in 57 games.

He spent time with West Ham, Spurs, Rangers, and Sunderland throughout his career.

In addition to coaching in the Spurs youth department, he retired in March of last year. Last year, he further made an appearance as a pundit on Channel 4’s coverage of England’s games.
