    Jamie Carragher has undermined the chances of Arsenal winning the Premier League, following their 1-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle United.

    The Gunners lost their unbeaten run in the 2023/24 Premier League season on Matchday 11, in a game that was marred with much controversy.

    Mikel Arteta also expressed his rage following the game, blasting the officials for their “embarrassing” display.

    Speaking after the encounter at St James’ Park, Jamie Carragher questioned Arsenal’s title credentials.

    Carragher said: “Have Arsenal got a centre forward and a goalkeeper to win the league? I don’t think they have.”

    He added that Aaron Ramsdale is not a goalkeeper that can help any team in winning the league, while also expressing disapproval of David Raya.

    “For me, Ramsdale’s not going to win the league. Raya is all over the place.”

    There were some sections of fans, who felt Raya could have dealt with the cross sent in by Newcastle United which resulted in the goal.

    The Spaniard is the new number 1 of Arsenal, with Aaron Ramsdale being dropped to the bench by manager Mikel Arteta.

    Despite some shaky displays in between the sticks, David Raya has cemented his spot in goal for the Gunners.

    Jamie Carragher also had his say on the signing of Declan Rice, and he noted the impact of the Englishman on the team.

    Carragher said: “Bringing Rice in improves it, it doesn’t seem fluid, players were playing out of their skin last season”

    Arsenal sit 3rd on the Premier League table, with 24 points from 11 matches, winning 7 games, drawing 3 and losing 1.

    They are 3 points behind current table toppers, Manchester City, who have amassed 27 points thus far this season.

    However, Mikel Arteta’s side could become five points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who would leapfrog the Cityzens to the top spot if they win on Monday, November 6, 2023.

    Arsenal battling injury issues

    The Gunners have battled injury issues this season, with several notable players absent, including; Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Jesus, and Thomas Partey, amongst others.

    This is a crucial point of the season, and Arsenal will not want to be sweating over the fitness of any of their players.

    They entertain Sevilla on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League group fixture.

    3 days later, Mikel Arteta’s side also welcome Burnley to the Emirates Stadium, as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

    Having finished as runner-up to Manchester City last season, the Gunners have their sights fixated on winning the Premier League.

    They made several reinforcements in that regard, bringing in notable names, including; David Raya, Declan Rice, and Jurrien Timber.

    The season is still a long way from being over, but Arsenal will have to rake up important points, which will be helpful in their push for the league crown.
