Manchester United players and officials marked their Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle United with pleasantly hilarious moments.
It was a celebration galore as the Red Devils ended their six-year trophy drought with a hard-fought win over Newcastle United.
After a seemingly dragging first 30 minutes uncharacteristic of a final, Manchester United dropped the curtain-raiser in the 33rd minute.
Casemiro’s header after Luke Shaw’s freekick put the Red Devils ahead. In the 39th minute, United fans at Wembley erupted again with loud cheers as Marcus Rashford caused Sves Botman to score an own goal.
Wout Weghorst played in the Three Lions forward in the Newcastle box. Rashford then fired a right-footed strike which deflected off the legs of Botman into the net.
The quickfire double by Manchester United moved the club closer to their first trophy after six years.
The first half ended with the Magpies trailing the resurgent Manchester United by two goals. However, it was a different ball game in the second half as Newcastle United came out smoking, pressing deep, and attempting a come-back all to no avail.
Manchester United held on to win by two goals and emerge champions of the 2022/23 Carabao Cup.
After the win, the club took to pleasantly hilarious dressing room celebrations which started after being handed the trophy and medals.
First, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag was seen in viral footage dancing with Antony and Lisandro Martinez.
The Dutch tactician emptied his emotions in a hilarious dance step with the two players before giving them an embrace.
Antony and Lisandro Martinez played a crucial role in the win over Newcastle. The two players were signed by Erik Ten Hag from his former club Ajax, and have been instrumental to Manchester United’s rise this season.
Another footage of Manchester United’s celebrations shows Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford having a nice vibing to a rap song after lifting the club’s 65th trophy.
Marcus Rashford has been the engine room of Manchester United’s resurgence under Erik Ten Hag. He has bagged 24 goals for the club this season and has been tipped as the most in-form striker in Europe after the World Cup.
Jadon Sancho recently returned to the team after a lone training in the Netherlands and has made his way back to Erik Ten Hag’s first-choice squad.
Other footage shows the players cheering and expressing their excitements in front of the camera.
Alex Ferguson was also spotted in the dressing room celebrating the win with Manchester United players.
The former Manchester United manager has not been far from the club, since stepping down in 2013 as the club’s longest-serving manager.
Welcoming the former manager into the dressing room, Erik Ten Hag shook hands with Ferguson before giving him a warm hug.
Erik Ten Hag won 13 Premier League titles with Manchester United, the Champions League and other domestic and European trophies during his reign at Old Trafford.
Erik Ten Hag has now reached a milestone in his managerial career with the Red Devils after the Carabao Cup win. He will now be looking at other major competitions – the Europa League, FA Cup, and the Premier League.
