Supporters of Chelsea have requested that England International Reece James be made captain after a show of unrelenting support to the Club.
It comes after the Chelsea academy graduate sent a direct and brutal response to an Arsenal fan beckoning on him to join Arsenal.
James is already a darling to Stamford Bridge fans due to his passionate attitude, in addition to his physical and technical abilities.
The 23-year-old penned a six-year deal with the Southwest London side last summer and he will remain with the club until at least 2026.
Despite the likes of Mason Mount and Kai Havertz leaving the club to join Premier League rivals, James remains steadfast in the blues course.
The Englishman is expected to assist Mauricio Pochettino as they hope to return to their impressive ways.
Anyway, Reece James’ reply when he was involved in an exchange on Twitter with an Arsenal fan has further endeared him to Chelsea faithfuls.
Reece James “I say no” reply to an Arsenal fan
The Gooner, who recently witnessed Kai Havertz join his team from Chelsea for £65 million this week, tweeted: “Reece James to Arsenal, who says no?”
This resulted in a funny but seemingly brash reply from James, who responded negatively with: “I say no.”
The official account of the Stamford Bridge club then quickly meddled into the conversation, quoting the post with these words “One of our own”.
They afterwards replied to their post with a picture of James celebrating in front of Arsenal supporters.
Seeing all these, Chelsea fans got captivated in the conversation and they demanded for him to become the club’s new captain.
They also shared their different reactions on the conversation that was done via the micro-blogging app, Twitter.
A fan said: “Make him Chelsea captain immediately”
Another supporter replied: “MY FUTURE CAPTAIN”
One expressed: “PROPER CHELS 💙💙💙”
An Arsenal fan who appeared pained by the reply said: “Not everyone has good taste, Reece. It’s ok.”
It appears Cesar Azpilicueta might be on his way out of Stamford Bridge as he is reportedly set to join Inter Milan on a free transfer.
Definitely, Chelsea’s next captain won’t be Mason Mount who has reportedly penned a deal with Manchester United.
Chelsea and Manchester United agreed to a £60 million deal for Mount, whose contact with the Stamford Bridge club was set to end in the summer of 2024.
Reece James made his debut for the Blues in 2019 following his return from injury.
The 23-year-old scored his first goal and assisted two in a 7-1 win for the West London side over Grimsby Town in the third round of the 2019–20 EFL Cup.
James has gone on to make 147 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 11 goals and providing 20 assists across all competitions.
