Former Tottenham Hotspurs manager Harry Redknapp has predicted that Manchester United will finish in Champions League places in the English Premier League this season.
The Red Devils are currently two points behind the last qualifying team, Chelsea who lost 3-2 to West Ham at London Stadium in their last encounter. Leicester City, occupying the third spot, seems to be struggling at the moment, as they find results hard to come by. Their 2-1 loss to Everton added to their misery as Brendan Rodgers men could be dislodged out of the top four by either the Red Devils or Wolves that are having a nice time both home and away.
Manchester United 3-0 win away at Brighton was a confidence booster for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men. The Norwegian will be will expectedly be doing everything he can to get to the top four, after a bright return to football following the restart of the Premier League. The last time United dropped points in the league was during Tottenham’s a 1-1 draw.
I can’t see Manchester United finishing outside the top four
Speaking to MUTV, Redknapp expressed the belief that United can reach either or fourth spot, adding that the Red Devils will expectedly secure a win over Bournemouth.
“I’d be a fool if I said I fancy Bournemouth to get a result. I couldn’t pick many worse games to play at this stage of the season. United want that top-four spot.
“I think Leicester are starting to struggle; there’s a real opportunity now. They’ve hit a brick wall, haven’t they?”
With the certainty of United finishing in the top four this year, Redknapp noted that the Old Trafford side is in form and playing well.
” I can’t see them finishing outside of the four. They could even finish third, I think, the way it’s looking at the moment. I think United will be in the top four; I think they’ll push on.”
Speaking on the club’s January transfer deals, he said Bruno Fernandes, who scored a brace against Brighton had given the team the balance required with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined in the summer.
United will welcome Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
