Harry Kane now in top ten of 21st century English players with 200+ goals

    Tottenham Hotspurs striker, Harry Kane, has remained prolific in front of goals despite recently returning from a long injury layoff.

    Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, the Englishman might not have been able to have a feel of this season’s campaign again after sustaining a hamstring injury against Southampton at the St. Mary’s on January 1.

    The 26-year-old alongside fellow striker Son Heung Min has been leading the frontline for Jose Mourinho and they have been getting results lately.

    Kane celebrate goal against Newcastle United

    After a goalless draw against Bournemouth, Spurs has gone one to win the North London derby against Arsenal 2-1 and ground out a 3-1 win over Newcastle United – a game in which Kane scored a brace to score his 200th and 201stgoals. Spurs is currently 7th on the log.

    Kane is a great striker with shot accuracy and he is also a complete striker, who can score with his head and both legs from either shot or long distance.

    Will Harry Kane overtake Rooney?

    Kane is currently number nine on the overall list with Derby county midfielder, Wane Rooney topping the chart with 309 goals.

    Wayne Rooney goals record

    Former England striker, Wayne Rooney is the all-time highest England goalscorer with 309 goals. Rooney, who is also the record goalscorer for both the England national team and Manchester United is considered to be the best striker in his generation.

    The Englishman joined Everton at the age nine and made his debut at the age of 16.

    Rooney played against United in the FA Cup 4th round

    He scored 253 goals overall for United in all competiontions. His 208 Premier League goals made him to be behind Alan Shearer who is the all time highest goals scorer in the English top flight.

    The then 17-year-old Rooney scored on his European competition (UEFA Euro 2004) where he scored four goals. He also scored 53 goals in 120 appearances.

    Jermaine Defoe goals record

    Rooney is followed by Jermaine Defoe, who currently plies his trade with Rangers Glasgow, who has 269 goals so far.

    Defoe was prolific at Tottenham during his stints with the North London club and he continued with Bournemouth and West Ham before moving to Scotland.

    Defoe started his career with Charloton Athletic aged 14 before turning professional with West Ham United where his goalscoring tourch started.

    Defoe scored 162 Premier League goals throughout his professional career, making 496 appearances with stints at Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Toronto FC, Sunderland and Bournemouth.

    Currently plying his trade with Rangers, Defoe has scored 28 goals in 63 games for Steven Gerrard’s men.

    Frank Lampard goals record

    Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard is third on the log with 247 goals. Most of his goals came while he was with the Blues.

    Lampard, who began his career at West Ham is still Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer with 211 goals to his name to break Bobby Tambling’s previous best of 203.

    Billy Sharp goals record

    Billy Sharp is Sheffield United’s striker with 242 goals to his name.

    The 34-year-old was able to score 3 goals in 27 appearances for the impressive Blades this season’s Premier League. Sharp got his 220th goal since making his debut in 2004, which make him overtake former Southampton and England striker Rickie Lambert.

    After stints with Rotherham United, Scunthorpe United, Rushden and Diamonds, Southampton, Reading, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United, Sharp made his second return to the Bramall Lane where he has been playing from the bench recently.

    Rickie Lambert goals record

    Lambert was quite prolific in the Premier League where he scored 31 goals in his debut season with Southampton.

    Former Southampton striker, Rickie Lambert is fifth on the list with 222 goals.

    The former Liverpool forward, who only scored three goals for the Reds also scored over 30 penalties throughout his career, after having a stint with Blackpool, Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers, Southampton, Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion, and Cardiff City.

    Adam Lefondre goals record

    Adam Lefondre, who currently plies his trade with Sydney FC being 6th with 218 goals.

    His stint with Stockport County, Rochdale, Rotherham United, Reading, Cardiff City, Bolton Wanderers (loan), Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bolton Wanderers, and Sydney FC have been successful.

    The high point for the Englishman Le Fondre was his 41 goals in 110 appearances for the Royals across the Premier League and Championship in one of the most prolific spells in his career.

    Darren Bent goals record

    Dareen Bent is seventh with 212 goals. Bent was also a prolific striker in the Premier League with 106 goals from 276 appearances with 15 assists.

    Bent announced his retirement from football in July 2019 after a stint with Derby County in the championship.

    Glenn Murray goals record

    Brighton striker, Glenn Murray is 8th with 202 goals.

    Although most of his goals came from the second tier, he has so far scored 37 goals from 146b appearances with six assist to his record.

    After a stint with Bournemouth, Murray returned to Brighton & Hove Albion on a deal until June 2019 and he scored 15 goals in 28 appearances while on loan to the club in the first half of the season.

    He also holds the record of most gols scored in the championship with 30 in a season with the Seagulls.

    Shaun Wright-Phillips goals record

    Former Chelsea and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips round up the top ten with 196 goals.

    The pacy winger is not the best of goalscorers, but he had scored 32 goals and recorded 35 assists in 316 appearances in the Premier League.

    He hung up his booths last year after stints with City, Chelsea, QPR, New York Red Bulls, Phoenix Rising FC

    Form the look of things, Kane who made his professional debut with Leyton Orient is capable of overtaking Rooney since he took him just four years to rack up the figures.
