German League to return with home fans only for the upcoming new season.

    All 36 clubs involved in the top two divisions of the German League have put in motion plans to restart the league with fans in the stadium, but only home fans will be allowed into the ground to avoid people traveling cross-country.

    The German League was the first European country to resume football activity amidst the pandemic. With the season completed regulations are being out in place to enable fans into the stadium in a controlled manner.

    The competition’s resumption will be far from ‘normal,’ as the league resumes next month.

    The Virtual meeting held by the clubs on Tuesday was to deliberate on outline and concrete modality to be put in place for clubs to follow, some of the decisions reached were; 

    No beer or standing in the stadium

    fans will not be allowed to drink beer in the stadium, and the famous standing policy in German will be suspended for the time being a move that would prevent a club like Dortmund from forming their famous ‘Yellow Wall.’

    Only selected home fans would be allowed into the stadium and traced via their online ticket purchase in case of emergencies. The exact number of fans in each stadium would vary according to their capacity.

    However, a lot of the intending interim rules are mainly dependent on the spread of the virus in the country and with authorization from regional and local health organizations.

    The governor of Bavaria, home of Bayern Munich, is skeptical about the resumption of the league with fans in the stadium with the governor favoring a more cautious approach.

    Bundesliga side Borrusia Monchengladbach held an open training session with over 300 fans in attendance with their facemask on Tuesday as they prepare for the league’s start.

    The new season restarts on September 11 with the first round of cup games to be played in the lower division, while UEFA has also fixed its latter stage of the Europa League in the country with games to be played without fans this month.
