Gareth Bale scored his first goal in Major League Soccer during his second game for Los Angeles FC.
The 33-year-old Wales international scored his first goal for LAFC on Saturday night in a 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City after leaving Real Madrid last month. Recall that the Wales international spent the last nine years of his football career at Real Madrid. He had to leave the club after losing the respect of the fans.
During the game against Sporting Kansas City, Bale joined the party from the bench. Before his introduction, Cristian Arango had given LAFC the lead at Children’s Mercy Park. Bale sealed the victory in the last quarter of the game.
While speaking with the club’s official website after the game, Bale said: “The most important thing was we won the game, first and foremost. We all knew the first half maybe wasn’t good enough, but the manager had another great team talk and got us going.
“It was fantastic to come on and score a goal to help the team and secure the three points, so from a personal standpoint, it’s nice to get off the ground and more importantly, secure the three points. Chicho Arango had a great finish.”
After coming on with 25 minutes left, Bale’s first goal was a classic example of his style as he cut inside from the right before shooting home with his left-foot.

He made his MLS debut last weekend in a 2-1 victory at Nashville for the team, which is now atop the Western Conference standings.
When asked how he was adjusting, he replied: “The transition has been just kind of normal and what I expected. It’s going to take some time – I would be in pre-season now in Europe, so I’m getting my fitness back up quickly.
“The club is doing an amazing job to kind of progress me and not pushing me too quick, so I’m starting to feel better and better each day as training goes on and I was glad to contribute tonight.
“I’m enjoying it here. Everybody at the club has made me feel very welcome very quickly and I feel very settled straight away, and I think any player will tell you if they feel happy and settled, they start to play their best football.”
