Real Madrid forward, Gareth Bale might have the opportunity to play against Paris Saint Germain later tonight, February 15, 2022, at 21:00. He traveled with the Spanish giants to Paris to play the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 game.

The 32-year-old Welshman has until June 30, 2022, before his contract with Real Madrid expires which means that in the next four months, Bale will be a free agent.

Recall that Bale who left Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid on September 1, 2013, for a then world transfer record fee worth €101 million, spent the 2020-2021 season on loan at Spurs.

Bale returned to Real Madrid ahead of the 2021-2022 season with a couple of fitness issues that sidelined him for most of the season. Gareth Bale also suffered from coronavirus infection for days before he was able to return to team training.

The fitness level of the Welshman has gotten so bad that reports claimed that he can not play two successive matches without sustaining an injury. Hance, since August 2021, Bale has been sidelined due to fitness issues.

He had to wait until February 12 to play his first competitive game in 2022. Recall that because of the injury crisis at Real Madrid, coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to feature Bale in the club’s 0-0 draw with Villarreal on February 12.

The coach could play Bale against PSG tonight which could be a big risk since the football star is now so prone to sustaining injuries.

Ahead of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 game at Parc Des Princes, coach Ancelotti confirmed that the Wales international whi has won four UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga in 9 years at Madrid, would exit the club next summer.

The Italian coach stressed that the 32-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur winger intends to finish on the high which could mean winning this season’s La Liga title and probably the UEFA Champions League.

Coach Ancelotti said: “His contract is about to end and it could be that he didn’t have much motivation in recent times.

“Now he’s feeling good, and he wants to end his time here as he deserves because Bale has brought many titles to this club.

“He helped the club to win the Champions League and Copa Del Rey titles, so I think that ending his time here on a high would be good for his career.

“I speak with him just like I try and speak with everyone else, trying to get the best out of them, listen to their problems, and that’s it.

“The personal relationship with him and the other players is good, I can’t blame him for anything.

“As long as a player is serious, professional, and respects the rules and the people he works with, our relationship will be good.

“He’s always done that and never failed. Then, Gareth has had injuries which didn’t allow him [to play].”

As things are going, persistent fitness issues might force Gareth Bale to retire from football earlier than expected. However, reports claimed that the 32-year-old winger who has scored 36 goals in 100 appearances for Wales intends to help his country qualify for the forthcoming World Cup (for the first time in 64 years) and probably feature in the tournament before he hangs his boots.

Wales are scheduled to play a World Cup qualifiers playoff against Austria on March 24, 2022. The kick-off time is 20:45.
