Paris Saint Germain center-back Thiago Silva has joined Chelsea football club as a free transfer. He will remain at the club until the end of the 2020-2021 season. The one year deal could be extended further if the 35-year-old Brazilian defender is able to keep impressing the management of the club.

Silva played his last game for PSG on Sunday, 23 August 2020, when the club lost the UEFA Champions League title to Bayern Munich.

Futballnews has earlier reported that Messi contacted the manager of Manchester City Pep Guardiola before he submitted his transfer request to Barcelona. The latest updates say Manchester City have already started planning for the move.

In line with their plan, the Premier League club have lined up 19-year-old Spanish defender Eric Garcia and 23-year-old Spanish defender Angelino as part of the deal they are reportedly packaging for Messi if they can not get him as a free transfer.

Other reports claim that the club are preparing to add 26-year-old Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva, 26-year-old Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus including £89.5 million for Messi.
