Former Inter Milan player Christian Vieri said his former teammate Ronaldo Luis Nazario De Lima is better than his namesake Cristiano Ronaldo. Vieri who played for Inter Milan between 1999 to 2005 stated that the Brazilian legendary footballer is better than the present-day Ronaldo.
Oftentimes, the argument of who the best footballer is has always been between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, former Italian footballer, Christian Vieri has created another side of the argument about who the best truly is. Vieri spoke about who is better between Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and De Lima Ronaldo of Brazil during a chat with Daily Mail.
De Lima Ronaldo is no doubt one of the greatest strikers to play the game, he ruled the football scene right from the late 90s and early 2000. If there was an attacker that defenders and goalkeeper feared so much at that time, it was De Lima Ronaldo. The two time World Cup winner traded his fortune in PSV, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Milan, and Corinthians before he hanged the boot.
Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, is also a great goal scorer. So many critics believed that whatever fear that De Lima created for defenders and goal stopper during his time has been redefined and made more dreadful by the Portuguese man. People hail Cristiano for his fast pace football, ability to dribble and clinical finishing.
Although, De Lima and Cristiano both have the same name (Ronaldo) splashed at the back of their Jersey. However, the two football stars are two different people.
Christian Vieri, when he was asked to pick who the best is between Brazilian Ronaldo and Cristiano Ronaldo, didn’t take time before he mentioned De Lima Ronaldo. In his words, he said: “I am a friend of Ronnie and I was lucky enough to have him as a striker with me. He had it all. He was explosive, powerful and fast. He looked like a dancer, he seemed to dance with the ball.
“I say that Brazilian Ronaldo is better than Cristiano Ronaldo.
“CR7 is a war machine, he is admirable for everything he does and for all the things he continues to do. Cristiano can play up to 40 years with a cigarette between his lips, as they say in Italy. He has a sculptural physique.”
