Football Manager 23 ranks De Bruyne as the best player in the world

The Football manager 2023, an audio-visuals game featuring top football stars across the globe was released on November 8th, 2022.

As usual, the list of players and their ratings were released with surprising changes in the ranking.

Leading the chart of top players on the 100-man list is Manchester City sensation and Belgium playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne is the highest-rated player with 189/200 points. He is closely followed by PSG talisman Kylian Mbappe, with 188/200 points, and then former Bayern Munich and now Barcelona ace Robert Lewandowski with 186/200 points.

Lionel Messi is ranked 10th on the list

Neymar, one of the PSG attacking trio, missed out on the top 10, with Lionel Messi completing the top 10 ranking, with 180/200 points.

Other players above Lionel Messi in the top 10 include; Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid, Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool, Harry Kane of Tottenham, Erling Haaland of Manchester City, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid.

Shockingly, five times Ballon d’Or winner Christiano Ronaldo is ranked 100th on the list with just 158/200.

This may be shocking, given the pedigree of the player – the records he had broken, the goals he has scored, the trophies and laurels in his kits, and of course, his huge following.

Ronaldo’s drop in the ranking of the Football Manager 2023 is not unrelated to his poor form with Manchester United so far this season.

How the Football Manager’s rankings are done

Current Ability is an attribute used in Football Manager games to judge how good a player is, with each player in the game’s database given a rating out of 200 for both Current Ability (CA) and Potential Ability (PA).

Potential Ability is a rating given to judge how good players could become, but we’ve just used CA to assemble a list of the top 100 players in Football Manager 2023.
