Wayne Rooney has questioned why Manchester City’s Premier League title-winning triumph over QPR has never been properly dissected, with the Man United legend labeling it as “strange”.

Manchester City famously won their first-ever Premier League title under the most dramatic of circumstances, with Roberto Mancini’s men scoring twice in stoppage time to record an incredible 3-2 comeback win and pip local rivals Manchester United to top spot on goal difference.

The game, however, is remembered for Sergio Aguero’s last-gasp winner, with the Argentine smashing the ball past Paddy Kenny in QPR’s net to send the Etihad crowd into raptures. But while the game – and Aguero’s goal – is celebrated as one of the best in the Premier League’s history, Rooney questioned the performances of the QPR players in the build-up to City’s winner.

“Paddy Kenny should have done better for a couple of the goals,” Rooney told news reporters. Manchester City gets the second goal and QPR kick it straight back to them and that’s never been questioned-I find that strange.”

Djibril Cisse celebrating after the game with the City players, but yeah, listen, it’s a historic moment in the Premier League, so I’m sure that’s if you are not involved as a Manchester United player, that’s probably one of the greatest moments in the league. “

Wayne Rooney and a host of other Premier League legends – including Ian Wright and Vincent Kompany – were asked about Aguero’s goal as City celebrated its 10th anniversary, with it being labeled as “remarkable” and “one of the greatest goals in Premier League history”.

Manchester City unveiled a statue of Aguero’s celebration outside the Etihad last week, with the Argentine humbled by the gesture. Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me. To see me 10 years ago is very moving, “said Aguero.”

In those 10 years, I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world. ‘ I am very grateful to the club for making this statue in recognition of my football career in Manchester. It is something very special to me and my family. ‘
