Iran national team could be barred from competing in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which begins in November, after a human rights organization, Open Stadium, urged FIFA to forbid the Islamic nation from competing due to abuses of women rights and keeping ladies out of the beautiful game.

In a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Thursday, the organization complained that despite pressure from the body overseeing the sport, Iranian officials continued to bar female fans from entering the country to watch matches.

The Iranian government may potentially stay in touch (discriminatory) with anyone who leaves the country to watch the games in Qatar.

Iran responded positively to FIFA’s request in a letter to enable women to watch the beautiful game of football and support their nation, but it is exceedingly uncommon to see women playing in matches.

Masha Amini was killed for refusing to wear the Hijab, which the nation had made mandatory, and this led to a tragic protest that is still going on in Iran.

Despite the possibility of being disqualified from competing in the World Cup, few members of the national team are prepared to protest.

Other sources stated that former Iranian athlete Hossein Mahini was detained for speaking out against the administration on the ongoing difficulties in the country.

Iran Group In Qatar World Cup

Iran fell into the same group B in the World Cup as England, Wales, and the USA. It will be a difficult group to accumulate points. As a result, it is reasonable to conclude that Iran has no chance of qualifying for the World Cup knockout stage outside of its group.

Iran’s Fixtures In The World Cup

Iran will face England on November 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time . Despite the fact that the English team has struggled to win games, they are more likely to beat the Iran national team.

Their second match comes against Wales on November 25, 2022, at 11:00 am. This match is Iran’s only chance of getting a draw in the World Cup because of the little talent in the Wales team.

Iran Discrimination Against Women

In Iran, Sharia Law is their constitutional law. This law favours men more than women in their society. Women have no legal protection against domestic violence or sexual harassment by anyone.

In the country, the life of women is regarded as half the value of that of men. This violation of women’s rights started as a result of the Islamic revolution in 1979.

Only 16% of the Iranian work force are women, which means men dominate the working population of the country. The country also requires women not to dance in public.

8.2% of married women have experienced physical abuse. Also, 52% of married women have been reported to have experienced emotional abuse.
