Everton owner, Moshiri, has reacted to the continued interest of US-based KAM sports group in buying Everton football club.
According to sources close to the American investors, KAM sports group is reportedly still interested in buying Everton.
Earlier this year, the Merseyside club has remained in the spotlights of some investors, with some indicating an interest in buying the club.
According to reliable sources close to Everton, talks are continuing on the potential takeover with KAM sports group acting alone for now.
Meanwhile, Moshiri has issued a statement declaring his position on the array of interests laying siege over the club. According to him, Everton is not for sale as he has not hung a ‘for sale sign’ outside the club.
“There has been much talk of investment in our football club recently – even takeovers,” he said. “I want to clarify that there is no ‘for sale’ sign currently hanging outside Everton.”
Moshiri took over the reins at Everton in 2016 after he bought a majority stake at the Merseyside club.
He has reportedly invested millions of pounds since taking over and is planning to move the club to a new 54,300-capacity stadium next year.
Although contending that Everton is not for sale, Moshiri did not dismiss exploring other potential investment opportunities for the club as he added that he has to be pragmatic on sourcing for more investment opportunities.
“It was pragmatic to explore all potential investment opportunities”, he noted.
This has given credence to reports of interests of a takeover from organizations such as the KAM sports group, which describes itself as “a family-owned organization that is set up to own and manage premier international sports assets”
The KAM sports group is reportedly owned by a Minneapolis-based Kaminiski family, who are part of a consortium led by former Manchester United and Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon.
The Kaminski family made the entirety of its fortunes from investing in properties.
Meanwhile, Everton has been contacted amid the rumors f a potential takeover, and the club has declined to respond to the development, BBC reported.
Everton has seen its Premier League rating drop in recent years. The club narrowly survived relegation last year after a dramatic come-back win over Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace.
This season, the Merseyside club has been far from convincing. They have won only one Premier League match out of seven matches, drawing four and losing 2.
They are currently 13th on the Premier League table, with 7 points from 7 matches and are 11 points from leaders Arsenal and just three points away from the relegation zone.
They next Premier League stop will be at the St Mary’s Stadium against Southampton. Both are separated by goal difference and are stucked on same number of points.
