Manchester City’s new player Erling Haaland has been officially confirmed as the club’s new No.9 ahead of next season. The 21-year-old prolific striker joined City this summer from Borussia Dortmund and is expected to bring goals for the club.
Haaland will be unveiled as a Manchester City player on Sunday alongside other summer signings Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez, and Stefan Moreno. The unveiling ceremony will take place in the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
The signing of Erling Haaland has created a lot of buzz in England and even La Liga president Javier Tebas has tried to petition Man City because of the transfer.
The No.9 shirt was used by legendary Alan Shearer and Andy Cole in the first decade of the Premier League but has gone out of fashion in recent years.

However, 21-year-old Haaland wore it last season in the Bundesliga and said: “I’m delighted to have been presented with the No 9 again. It’s a shirt that every striker aspires to and to wear at one of the best clubs in the world is a dream come true.”

While taking part in his medical ahead of the £51.2million move from Bundesliga challengers Borussia Dortmund, he was told that he has grown by almost a centimeter. Manchester City’s medical team said he is 195.52cm tall, the striker replied: “Oh wow, I’ve grown… almost one centimeter.”
