Erik Ten Hag provided a bullish response when asked about his future at Manchester United, following his side’s FA Cup triumph in Wembley.

Ten Hag guided the Red Devils to the 2023/24 FA Cup title on Saturday, May 25, 2024, defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the final.

The triumph meant that Erik Ten Hag has won 2 trophies in 2 seasons at the club, having won the Carabao Cup title in the 2022/23 season.

The win also means that Manchester United will be playing in the UEFA Europa League next season, having been staring at the possibility of not playing in a European competition ahead of the final.

Erik Ten Hag On His Future At Manchester United

Speaking after the epic game at Wembley, Erik Ten Hag expressed boastfully that if Manchester United do not want to continue with him, he will exit the club to win trophies elsewhere.

He said: “Two trophies in two seasons and three finals… not bad”.

“If they don’t want me anymore, I’ll go somewhere else and win trophies. That’s what I have done my who career”.

Ten Hag received a heavy dose of criticism during the 2023/24 campaign, due to Manchester United’s horrendous display for most of the season.

Erik Ten Hag often pointed towards injuries as the reason behind his team’s frailties, and his notion could be true, as his first-choice center-back partners were helpful to him winning the FA Cup.

Exiting Raphael Varane and injury-prone Lisandro Martinez were outstanding against the Cityzens, blocking and clearing anything and everything that came their way.

Before the FA encounter against Manchester City, reports indicated that the Red Devils were willing to let go of Ten Hag, irrespective of what happens in the cup final.

However, it appears there might be a change of mind, although there is still no substantial information on the future of the Dutchman.

Man United Were A “Mess” When I Arrived – Ten Hag

Anyway, Erik Ten Hag also termed Manchester United as a “mess” when he arrived, but noted that the team is currently better.

He said: “I prepare my team, develop it. It’s a project. When I arrived, I can say that it was a mess”.

“Today, we we’re better. We’re not where we want to be yet”.

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in the 30th and 39th minute put Manchester United into a comfortable position going into the break at Wembley before Jeremy Doku halved the deficit for Manchester City in the 87th minute following a howler from Andre Onana.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will exit the club this summer, however, not much is known about the future of veteran defender Jonny Evans, whose contract also expires this summer.

If Ten Hag remains in charge of the Red Devils, there is the possibility of Manchester United saying goodbye to Jadon Sancho, with the pair still not on good terms.

It will be fascinating to see what occurs in the coming months, as there is a lot regarding the future of key individuals in the team yet to be decided.
