Daley Blind, a former Red Devil who has spent the last four years playing for Dutch coach Erik ten Hag at Ajax is certain the coach would be a success at the Theatre of Dreams.

According to Blind, new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is “one of the best managers,” but needs time and the complete support of the board at Old Trafford. During his five-year tenure at Ajax, which ended with an Eredivisie title win earlier this month, Ten Hag established himself as one of Europe’s top tacticians.

The Dutchman forewent a summer vacation to arrive in Manchester early and begin work, with Blind believing that if his previous team is patient, the coach would be a success. Blind, who spent four years with United before returning to Ajax in 2018, has praised Ten Hag’s precise management style and powerful personality.

“Erik ten Hag is a terrific guy,” the Netherlands international said via Andy van der’s YouTube channel.

“Of course, it’s not an easy job, but he doesn’t avoid it either. He accepts the challenge. I have faith in him at Manchester United, but he needs the support of the board. Whatever occurred at Ajax, he had [Edwin] Van der Sar and [Marc] Overmars by his side, even in tough circumstances. “

“I hope he gets the opportunity since he is one of the best managers around. Ten Hag does not leave anything to chance. When we confronted an opponent whom we instinctively underestimated, we said to ourselves, ‘We don’t need a 45-minute meeting for this’. But he approaches every game the same way, with tactical training sessions and everything.”

Ten Hag will take charge of a United team that is on course to finish 6th or 7th in the Premier League after their last game of the 2021-2022 season which is against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils have stretched their recent trophy drought to five years under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, while also exiting Champions League football.

Ten Hag will be entrusted with resurrecting Old Trafford’s glory days, which may require the departure of several first-team players while bringing in one or two new faces amid ties to a slew of major names. Ajax duo Antony and Jurrien Timber have been linked with moves to United, while Ten Hag has not ruled out a return to his previous club.
