It’s the final day of the 2022/23 English Premier League season. The season has had its moments and the curtains would be drawn on Sunday for players to rest before reconvening next campaign full of energy and life.

Arsenal V Wolverhampton Wanderers

English Premier League
The Gunners end the season with a date against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Arsenal welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Emirate Stadium as they look to end the campaign on a high.

It wouldn’t come easy though as Julen Lopetegui’s men would also love a final day victory.

This season will be a season that would be fondly remembered in years to come for how Arsenal bottled and threw away the league title in the dying embers of the campaign despite it being within their grasp.

Aston Villa V Brighton and Hove Albion

Unai Emery battles Roberto Der Zerbi

Unai Emery’s men would want to end the season with a spot in Europe and as such they would want to do everything possible to get a win in the game.

Tottenham Hotspur are breathing down their neck with 57 points in 8th position, a point and a position behind the Villains.

Roberto Der Zerbi’s Brighton have albeit secured qualification for next season’s Europa League as they have amassed 62 points and they sit 6th on the Premier League table.

The Seagulls also sit just a position above Aston Villa who sit 7th and both sides have really ruffled feathers this campaign.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton and Hove Albion

Brentford V Manchester City

Would Brentford be the only side to defeat Manchester City over two legs?

Thomas Frank’s Brentford have also been impressive this season by their standards and they picked up maximum points at the Etihad during the first leg of this tie.

Ending the season in the top half of the table is something they can be proud of but finishing the season with a victory against City would be a delightful icing on a nicely set cake.

Certainly, it wouldn’t come easy against the Premier League champions who picked up a 1-1 draw in their last outing against Brighton.

There is no final day drama for Manchester City this season as it was during the 2021/22 campaign but after hilariously “drinking all the alcohol” in Manchester, they should be pumped up for this fixture.

Chelsea V Newcastle United

The Blues would want to bow out of the season on a winning note

An utterly horrendous campaign it has been for the Blues and they would be grateful that it is finally coming to an end.

However, a fixture against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United might not be the fixture they would love to bow out of the season with.

Newcastle United confirmed their qualification for next season’s Champions League last weekend and they would be looking to consolidate on the impressive season they have had.

In the reverse fixture, the Mapies came out victorious by a slim margin, but would it be the same fate for the blues in Frank Lampard’s last game handling the side?

Well! Time will tell.

Crystal Palace V Nottingham Forest

English Premier League
Crystal Palace welcome Nottingham Forest to the Selhurst Park

Another emotional farewell it might be for Roy Hogson after the 75 year old didn’t give any information over his future with the Eagles.

He was saddled with the responsibility of handling the side after the dismissal of Patrick Viera and like Superman, he came in and saved the side from sinking to the Championship.

Nottingham Forest have also guaranteed their safety in the Premier League for next season after the dealth a decisive blow on Arsenal’s title dreams.

Taiwo Awoniyi’s finish put the final nail on the coffin which ultimately confirmed their status in the top-flight and handed Manchester City the Premier League title.

Both sides definitely don’t have much to fight for in the game apart from pride but it should still be a great contest.

Everton V AFC Bournemouth

English Premier League
Everton know that a win in this game confirms their safety in the Premier League

This game is more significant for the Toffees than Bournemouth as the away side are assured of safety in the English Premier League.

However, Everton might need a win to albeit cement their place in the English Premier League for next season.

A draw might prove costly, although depending on the outcome of Leicester City and Leeds United fixtures it might not be.

Leeds United V Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City V West Ham United

English Premier League
Leicester City should be the more charged up side for this game based on what is at stake

The Foxes know that a win could give them the possibility of remaining in the top-flight depending on the result Everton get against Bournemouth.

But it wouldn’t come easy against David Moyes’ West Ham who have been impressive in May.

They have picked up 4 wins from a possible 6 across all competitions which has seen them secure top-flight status.

They also made it to a final of a European continental competition for the first time in 47 years.

Manchester United V Fulham

English Premier League
Manchester United would be hoping to make it three wins out of three against Fulham

The Red Devils annihilated Chelsea in their last outing in the English Premier League by 4-1 and that secured their qualification for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.

Erik Ten Hag’s men would be looking to end the season on a high but it might not come easy as they welcome Marco Silva’s Fulham to Old Trafford.

Manchester United sit 3rd with 72 points while Fulham sit 10 with 52 points.

The Cottagers have also been remarkable by their standards and they picked up back-to-back wins in the last two outings in the Premier League against basement clubs; Southampton and Leicester City.

Southampton V Liverpool

English Premier League
Both sides have nothing to fight for except pride

Two clubs who basically have nothing to fight for as their fate for the season is already known.

The Saints, Southampton are already relegated to the Championship while the Reds, Liverpool would be playing in the Europa League next season.

Both sets of fans aren’t happy over their respective clubs outing this season as Southampton were relegated to the Championship for the first time in 11 years after their loss to Fulham a fortnight ago.

Liverpool couldn’t make it to the Champions League despite their late upsurge in form which has seen them go 10 games without a defeat in the English Premier League.

Both supporters would want to bow out of the season on a high but the Reds appear to be the side who might be taking this one due to their impressive form.
