Manchester United attacking-minded players, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard could switch to FC Barcelona in January all things being equal.
The Spanish side are said to be in desperate need of attackers who will fit in with the club’s limited financial power. Hence, the club’s new coach, Xavi has identified 10 players across Europe that could be a great addition to his current squad.
Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard were added to the 10-man wishlist because they have not been able to establish themselves at Manchester United so far this season.
For instance, Cavani has managed to play just five Premier League games out of 12 so far this season which means that the 33-year-old striker is surplus to requirement at Old Trafford.
Sergio Aguero’s health condition has made FC Barcelona lack more options upfront which Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard could fill according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo. But their exit can only be sanctioned by Manchester United since the two players are still contracted to the club.
Before now, West Ham United have been trying to acquire the services of Jesse Lingard who had a wonderful spell on loan at the club from January 2021 to the end of last season.
Like Cavani, Lingard has not been playing regularly at United and is reportedly considering leaving the club this January. Due to his lack of satisfaction over the game time he has been getting at Old Trafford, he has refused to extend his contract with United.
However, it is not clear whether Lingard would be willing to leave his childhood club for FC Barcelona or West Ham United in January.
The other 8 players on FC Barcelona’s 10-man wishlist for the January transfer window reportedly include Chelsea pair Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner who are not been playing regularly at their present club.
Manchester City winger, Raheem Sterling, and Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing Bryan Gil are also among the players Xavi wishes to sign in January.
Barca decided to add Bryan to the list because since the 20-year-old Spaniard arrived at Spurs last summer, he has not been able to establish himself.
Xavi has also added the likes of River Plate goalscorer Julian Alvarez and Basel striker Arthur Cabral on the wishlist. While RB Leipzig Dani Olmo, RB Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi complete Xavi’s 10-man wishlist for the January transfer window.
Recall that Xavi became the new coach of FC Barcelona earlier in the month after the club sacked Ronald Koeman due to a poor run of games. The former Barca midfielder is trying to rebuild the team that has recorded 3 defeats, 5 draws, and 5 draws in La Liga this season.
Barcelona will be in action against Villarreal later today, November 27. A win in the game could take Barca from the 7th spot to the 6th spot if they could win with at least 3-0.
