Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace could be in trouble for visiting the stadium of his former club, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) during an FA Cup third-round game involving the club and Fulham on Sunday.

It was earlier claimed that QPR gave Eberechi Eze an invitation to attend the match after he had undergone a coronavirus test which returned a negative result. However, it is being speculated that the 22-year-old English attacking midfielder was not given any official permission to attend the game.

Hence, The English FA is said to be investigating Eberechi Eze’s presence at the stadium during the FA Cup game for a possible breach of coronavirus restriction. If he is found guilty, he might be banned for a couple of games or fined.

But since it is being reported that the English footballer followed the Covid-19 protocol by undergoing a coronavirus test before attending the game, he might not be punished for showing up at the stadium.

However, the earlier reports which claimed that QPR permitted Eberechi Eze to attend the game could be a major reason why the FA might investigate the situation to confirm whether there was any communication or not between the player and the club ahead of the game.

In the picture which surfaced on the internet after the match which took place at QPR’s Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, Eze could be seen seated at the directors’ box while watching Fulham beat QPR 2-0.

Another aspect that might land the playmaker in trouble was that he was spotted without a facemask which is against coronavirus guidelines in the United Kingdom.

QPR manager Mark Warburton said: “I’ve no idea whether he broke protocols or not. You’d have to ask our health and safety officer because that’s above my pay-grade.

“I want to talk about the game. What other players do in their own time, I can’t comment on that. It’s not my area of expertise. Far from it.”

Eberechi Eze is the second player in Crystal Palace that has been suspected to have breached the coronavirus guidelines in the country. Luka Milivojevic has been dragged for breaching the guidelines on New Year’s Day which forced the club’s coach Roy Hodgson to warn other members of the club against breaching the guideline.

As of the time of publishing this report, Crystal Palace was yet to issue an official statement over Eze’s case likewise the player.

Eberechi Eze joined Crystal Palace during the 2020 summer transfer window from QPR for €17.80 million. Since he joined the Premier League club, he has played 15 league games in which he scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists.
