Peretz has made history as he becomes the first Israeli to play for the German Bundesliga club.

The 23-year-old previously played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League and also, the Israeli national team.

Reports also have it that the goalie, who is a Tel Aviv native, already possesses a German passport.

Bayern Munich, the most decorated club in German football history, are set to make a transfer fee payment of at least 5 million euros (around $5.4 million) to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano already confirmed that the deal was done between Bayern and Daniel Peretz after he completed his medicals.

Peretz is expected to be the team’s third-string goalie, with the opportunity to fight for the primary backup position.

Bayern Munich who have won the Bundesliga an unprecedented 11 consecutive times are rich in Jewish history.

Kurt Landauer, an early Jewish president of the team who survived the Holocaust, returned to the team in the late 1940s and played a vital role in building Bayern Munich into the powerhouse they are today.

The team renamed the plaza in front of its stadium Kurt-Landauer-Platz and erected a memorial plaque of his face in 2015.

A fundraising campaign led by the Kurt Landauer Foundation four years later saw the team erect a statue of Landauer at its club headquarters.

Daniel Peretz

Daniel Peretz is an Israeli footballer who was born on 10th July, 2000 and last played as a goalkeeper for Israeli Premier League club Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Israel national team.

He was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, to an Israeli family of both Sephardi Jewish and Mizrahi Jewish descent and of Ashkenazi Jewish (German-Jewish) descent.

Peretz is also the cousin and fellow Maccabi Tel Aviv youth academy graduates Dan Glazer and the latter’s younger twin-brothers Tamir Glazer and Amit Glazer, who are all Israel international footballers as well.

Like we mentioned earlier, he holds a German passport, on account of his Ashkenazi Jewish (German-Jewish) ancestors, which eases the move to certain European football leagues.

Also, Daniel Peretz has been in a relationship with Israeli singer and actress Noa Kirel since 28 July 2023.

How Good Is Peretz And Why Does Bayern Want Him?

Despite the Israeli playing in a far weaker league than the Bundesliga, Peretz has a higher save rate (76.15%) than Neuer (70.59%) and Ulreich (68.97%) in the last season.

Daniel Peretz also ranks just behind Neuer (0.163) with 0.142 prevented goals per 90 minutes and is significantly ahead of Ulreich (0.01 per 90 minutes).

However, when it comes to stopping or preventing goals overall, Peretz (6.94) is also ahead of Neuer (2.63) and Ulreich (0.11).

Peretz ranks better in these stats, however, where he falls short is long pass accuracy, which comes in at just 52.7% and is significantly behind Neuer (68.52%) and Ulreich (61.73%).

This might just be concerning for Bayern fans accustomed to having a goalkeeper who can play with great accuracy out of the back.
