    Harry Kane got injured but recorded a goal and an assist on his debut as Bayern Munich kicked off their 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign with a deserved win over Werder Bremen

    It was the 113th time Bayern Munich have clashed with Werder Bremen in German football – the most number of games played between two German clubs.

    Bayern Munich have maintained a dominant tradition over Werder Bremen, winning 60 times, drawing 26, and recording 27 losses.

    The Bavarians went into the game, having maintained an unbeaten 31-match run against Werder Bremen since they last lost to the side in 2008. They also went into the game without a Bundesliga defeat in the opening weekend in the past 21 seasons.

    Away from the stats, another major talking point from the game was Harry Kane, who made his debut for the club with expectant Bayern Munich fans hoping for a stellar start for the club most expensive signing and highest earner.

    As expected, Bayern Munich dominated proceedings as the match kicked off with Kane leading the attack for the Bundesliga giants.

    It was a brilliant early kickoff for the Bundesliga champions and Harry Kane. The former Tottenham forward got involved in Bayern Munich’s early goal after he flicked the ball to Leroy Sané  on the halfway line. Sane picked his pace towards Werder Bremen’s box and fired into the bottom-left corner to give Bayern Munich the lead just four minutes into the game.

    While Sane recorded his first strike this season for the Bavarians, Harry Kane earned his first assist on his debut.

    Bayern Munich continued to dominate proceedings going forward after taking the lead.

    The Bavarians pinned down Werder Bremen into their own half as they continued to relentlessly push for a second goal but could not get pass the Werder Bremen defence again throughout the first half.

    They went into the break leading by a lone goal matched with a superior display.

    Werder Bremen started the second half with more impressive performance trying to find an equaliser but met the brink will defence of the visitors.

    After a brilliant early start, Bayern Munich were back again into the game, dominating proceedings and were set to extend the lead.

    Harry Kane and Leroy Sané continued terrorizing the host’s defence but could not double the lead until the 74th minute when Kane netted his debut goal for Bayern Munich.

    Alphonsus Davies got the assist for Harry Kane’s debut strike. Davies delivered a nice cross from the left flank to Harry Kane who converted it effortlessly to double the lead for the visitors.

    Few minutes after netting the second goal for the Bavarians, Kane suffered a cramp in the 81st minute and could not continue with the game.

    He was subbed off in the 84th minutes with Tel coming on in his place.

    In the 90th minute, Leroy Sané  bagged his brace to seal the win for Bayern Munich. Harry Kane’s replacement, Tel, also scored a stoppage-time goal as Bayern Munich grabbed an emphatic 4-0 win over Werder Bremen.
