The move of Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United for £12m in 2003 has been declared as the best Premier League transfer.
The transfer move beat the signings of Thierry Henry for Arsenal, Mohamed Salah for Liverpool and Sergio Aguero for Manchester City to be the Premier League best ever transfer.
Ronaldo became number one in a countdown of the 20 greatest Premier League deals that the Transfer Show panel chose on a special Christmas Day programme on Sky Sports News.
Apart from being the number one on the list, the Portuguese was one of four Manchester United players in the top 10 alongside Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney.
Ronaldo spent six seasons at Old Trafford where he won eight major trophies including three Premier League titles and the Champions League. During a stellar career.
So far in his entire career, he has scored over 750 goals, won 30 major trophies, five Ballon d’Ors and two Best FIFA men’s player of the year awards.
“When he signed I thought he was a poor signing for United. So from now on, don’t listen to a word I say,” Sky Sports News presenter Tom White said.
Thierry Henry might have made more impact than the Portuguese, but he is second on the list. Henry, who spent eight years at Arsenal was signed in the summer of 1999 for £11m from Juventus.
The French world cup winner became an invincible, won two titles and broke the club’s goalscoring record.
“We wondered who this player was [when Arsenal signed him].Well we soon found out. Henry for Arsenal – an absolute standout Premier League player,” Sky Sports News presenter Jim White said.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, has been an important player for the Etihad outfit. The Argentine, who scored one of the most famous Premier League goals in 2012, was number 19 on the list.
So far, he has scored 254 goals for the Citizens across all competitions. His present season has been hampered by injury.

Former Arsenal goalies, Petr Cech was the only goalkeeper in the list while Premier League champions Liverpool has Mohammed Salah (11) and Virgil van Dijk (14) on the list as well.
