Conor Gallagher has offered his response to a young Chelsea fan at the Emirates Stadium who demanded for the players to fight for the club’s shirt during their defeat to Arsenal.

The Blues were bruised and battered at the Emirates Stadium by 5-0, as the Gunners displayed superiority over their West London rivals.

As the scoreline was becoming increasingly appalling for Chelsea, TV Cameras panned on a young fan holding a placard that read: “I don’t want your shirt, I want you to want to fight for ours.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been heavily criticized this season for their underwhelming display, with the team sitting 9th on the log with 47 points from 32 matches.

They will also go trophyless for the second season running, having lost the Carabao Cup title in the final after they were submerged by Liverpool in February 2024.

The Blues also suffered a defeat to Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup, and are nowhere close to winning the Premier League title.

The response of Conor Gallagher to the demands of the young Chelsea fan

Speaking after the game in a presser whilst asked to give a worthy response to the fan, Conor Gallagher said:

“We definitely are putting the effort in, I know how much it means to all the boys.

“It’s a very young squad with not much experience as a team in the Premier League. As you’ve seen this season, we’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs.

“We’re still improving and working together as a team to get to that next level.”

He stressed that they need to improve and correct the errors they made in the game against Arsenal.

The 24-year-old added: “Today is one of those days when we were nowhere near it. We need to dust ourselves off, look at the performance and where we need to improve, and all the mistakes we made where we can put it right.”

Chelsea uninspiring despite several signings made

Despite the influx of signings made in the summer, with notable additions like; Christopher Nkunku, Moises Caicedo, and Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea have struggled all through the campaign.

Players like Enzo Fernandez, Raheem Sterling, and Axel Disasi have also not been fiery this season, as they have largely been below-par.

Romeo Lavia, who was signed from Southampton, also hasn’t made any impact whatsoever due to injury issues, which has kept him out of action.

Cole Palmer has been the only shining light in a dark cave, with the Englishman who joined from Manchester City in the summer putting the team on his shoulders.

Palmer has been crucial for the Blues this term, and his absence due to illness was felt heavily in the clash against Arsenal.

Anyway, Chelsea return to action on Saturday, April 27, 2024, visiting Villa Park to play Aston Villa in a Matchday 35 Premier League action.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to end the season strongly as their final 5 games of the season see them play sides like; Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Bournemouth.
