Felipe Melo, a former teammate of both Dani Alves and Robinho has come out to give stern condemnation on the legal conduct of the pair.

Dani Alves and Robinho were both charged with rape and given jail sentences. The Robinho was given a nine-year jail term, while Dani Alves, a former Barcelona striker was given four years and six months.

Robinho was found guilty of rape in 2017 by a Milan Court when he and five others were said to have gang-raped a woman at a nightclub in 2013.

His hopes of further appealing were tarnished in early 2022 after the court upheld the evidence of his involvement in the crime.

Alves, on the 31st of December 2022 was said to have raped a woman in the bathroom of a Barcelona nightclub.

His defendant, in a bid to loosen up his jail term claimed he was drunk, but there were pieces of evidence to prove that the Spanish woman did not give consent.

However, the former Barcelona fullback has been released from prison after a local court ruled that he could be conditionally freed while he appeals his rape conviction, having served about a year in prison already. He had to post a bail of €1 Million.

The 40-year-old continues to maintain his stance on innocence and hopes the forthcoming court hearing will end in his favor, although the chances are slim because there is evidence to prove his guilt.

Felipe Melo in a furious manner did not hold back at the duo because they were his teammates. He has come out to publicly condemn their perverted act.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, as reported by Daily Mail, he highlighted the fact that he has a daughter, and he wouldn’t be pleased if they had done that with his daughter.

“I have a 15-year-old daughter. If they had done that with my daughter, I don’t think I would be here to give this interview”, he said.

He further added that women deserve to be respected, and the perpetrators must not go unpunished.

“I believe we must respect other human beings, we must respect women, we must respect men. They have to pay for what they did. And let it serve as a lesson so that others do not do it. This is very serious.”

Melo currently represents Fluminense in Brazil, and he alongside Dani Alves and Robinho were together in the Brazilian national team from 2009 to 2010.
