The cardiac arrest Christian Eriksen suffered while playing for his national team, Denmark, during the last European Championship has forced Inter Milan to terminate his contract.

Recall that on June 12, 2021, Christian Eriksen was playing for Denmark against Finland during the group stage of Euro 2020 when he suddenly collapsed on the pitch without being in contact with anyone.

Danish captain, Simon Kjær was the first to run to him to conduct CPR on him which kept him breathing until the medical team at the stadium came to his rescue.

Afterward, the 29-year-old Denish attacking midfielder was rushed to the hospital for further medical attention. To further keep him going, he had to undergo surgery through which ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) was inserted in him to aid his breathing.

Hence, his time at the European Championship ended abruptly, and had to watch the rest of the tournament in the hospital and later at his home in Denmark.

Denmark players worried about the health situation of Christian Eriksen after collapsing on the pitch on June 12, 2021.

Since an ICD was implanted in him, there have been speculations that he might not be able to play for Inter Milan again because no player is allowed to play in Serie A with a device planted in him.

Earlier, there was an attempt to influence the football authorities in Italy to change the rule to enable Christian Eriksen to play with the device. But the effort was not fruitful. Hence, he had to leave the club.

The representatives of Inter Milan and that of Christian Eriksen reached an agreement for the contract of the player to be terminated on December 17, 2021. As it stands, the player is without a club.

“The club and the entire Nerazzurri family embrace the player and wish him the best for his future,” an Inter Milan statement read.

“The best moments, the goals and the victories, the embrace of the fans outside the San Siro in celebrating the Scudetto: everything will always remain fixed in the history of the Nerazzurri.”

An Instagram post-Inter Milan posted on their verified Instagram page showed the best moments of the Denmark international while at the club.

In the caption, the club insisted that the former Tottenham Hotspur player is still a part of the club even though he is no longer contracted to the club.

Before Inter Milan terminated the 4 and the half-year contract they offered Christian Eriksen in 2020, the Denish footballer had played 60 times for the club in which he scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists.

At the time of publishing this report, it was not known where the Denmark international would want to spend the rest of his football career and has not announced whether he would retire from the game.
