Roma coach, Jose Mourinho has congratulated Inter Milan for beating him and his team 3-0 at home on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
The Portuguese tactician did not stop there, he took out time to wish the Italian club luck against Real Madrid. Inter and Madrid are scheduled to play a UEFA Champions League group stage game on Tuesday, December 7.
If Inter Milan managed to beat Real Madrid in Spain on Tuesday, the Italian club would top Champions League Group D with 13 points in 6 games, a point ahead of Madrid.
Talking about the league game between Jose Mourinho led Roma and Inter Milan. Mourinho’s boys could not do much against a very compact Inter team.
However, Roma managed to record 9 shots, one of which was on target. While Inter Milan that enjoyed 67 percent of the ball possession had 10 shots, four of which were on target.
Out of the four shots on target, Inter Milan scored three goals thanks to strikes from Hakan Calhanoglu in the 15th minute, Edin Dzeko in the 24th minute, and Denzel Dumfries in the 39th minute.
The 3-0 home defeat took Roma down to the 5th spot in the Italian Serie A table with 25 points in 16 games, 13 points from first placed AC Milan.
After the defeat, Jose Mourinho lamented that he faced Inter, a club he coached between 2008 and 2010 without a complete team.
Mourinho missed the services of Tammy Abraham and Rick Karsdorp who were suspended before the game; Stephan El Shaarawy, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Leonardo Spinazzola who were out with different degrees of injures; and Felix Afena-Gyan who is currently down with COVID-19.
In his post-match press conference with DAZN after the game, Jose Mourinho refused to answer the questions from the medium but decided to address the camera.
He said: “I apologize to the studio, to the people at home who might be interested in their questions.
“Inter are stronger than us in normal conditions. In non-normal conditions, they are much stronger than us. Last season, they were 29 points ahead of Roma. Today, with injuries and suspended players, it was very, very difficult…
“Our attacking potential was practically nil. It was very important to score a goal because we would only have two or three chances. We had three and didn’t score.
“When you play with a defense that has Ibanez and various others in positions that are not their usual ones, you still cannot concede the first and third goals. You just can’t.”
