Chelsea Vs Arsenal Preview: Probable Lineup, Team News, Head-to-Head, Prediction

This weekend’s London derby between two of the top Premier League teams should be a lively and exciting match.

Many dramatic stories will be told throughout this London Derby, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang facing Arsenal for the first time since his departure.

But the Gunners’ recent run of success, which has them atop the Premier League standings, will be the main focus.

The Blues, however, have just suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss to Graham Potter’s old team Brighton, which has dropped them to sixth place in the standings below Manchester United. They did, however, triumph over Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League matchup on Wednesday.

Star right defender Reece James, center back Wesley Fofana, and elite midfielder N’Golo Kanté are all still sidelined for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Arsenal will be without midfielders Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mohamed Elneny, and Emile Smith Rowe.

Chelsea Vs Arsenal Team News

Graham Potter has overseen a fairly successful start for Chelsea, but the team experienced its first setback after last weekend’s humiliating loss at Brighton.

The Seagulls exposed Chelsea’s style, which used the attack-oriented Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic as unconventional wing-backs, and Potter watched his team humiliated at the hands of his former employers.

The west Londoners recovered with a win over Dinamo Zagreb in the middle of the week, but they still have ground to make up in the Premier League after falling to sixth. Ben Chilwell’s hamstring problem has caused Potter unnecessary stress after watching Marc Cucurella struggle last weekend against Brighton.

Just one goal has been scored in the club’s last three Premier League games, which is an issue early in Potter’s term. This season, Chelsea ranks 12th in the division for xG, trailing teams like Leeds, Brentford, and Fulham.

The Blues must also overcome an appalling recent record against Arsenal, where they have lost four and won just one of their last six encounters in all competitions.

After losing to PSV Eindhoven last week, Arsenal responded forcefully by thumping Nottingham Forest 5-0 the following weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s team put on a strong display, dispelling concerns that they were starting to grow tire. The Gunners ran amok in the second half.

Following that, Arsenal defeated FC Zurich 1-0 to clinch the group championship in the Europa League.

Gabriel Jesus has been on a goalless streak for the previous eight outings in all competitions, and Arteta has urged him to continue scoring more goals.

Prediction

This London Derby matchup will probably be a closely fought battle regardless of either team’s present form because of the nature of the competition.

However, Chelsea is suffering with some serious defensive injuries that will be difficult to recover from.

Brighton left Chelsea with a reduced squad, yet we predict that they will draw with the high-flying Gunners.

Chelsea will likely draw Arsenal 1–1.
