RB Leipzig and Germany forward Timo Werner will miss the World Cup in Qatar following an ankle injury he picked up in the Champions League.
A statement released by RB Leipzig on Thursday, November 4, confirms the sad development.
Germany were set to announce their final 26-man squad for the World Cup in a week, and the news is coming as a major blow to the Hansi Flick-led team.

Timo Werner also finished as the league’s second highest goalscorer in the 2019–20 season, becoming Leipzig’s all-time top goalscorer.
Timo Werner joined Chelsea in 2020 for a reported fee worth €50 million, winning the UEFA Champions League in his first season at the club. He later returned to Leipzig in August 2022 for a reported £25.3 million.
