Charlotte FC attacker Andre Shinyashiki has been linked to a sexual assault, according to a police report filed in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County.
A document was obtained by the police authorities using Shinyashiki’s name and date of birth. In the report, which was filed on March 8, 2023, a 23-year-old man sexually assaulted a woman on February 26, 2023.
It was reported by the police that the white lady was sexually assaulted in an apartment in the 500 block of East Brooklyn Village Ave in Uptown.
However, according to the same report, the investigation into the incident has been opened but remains inactive as the police are not considering putting more effort into bringing the culprit to justice.
The Charlotte forward had addressed the allegation via Twitter by tweeting, “I have fully cooperated with Charlotte Police and MLS in their separate investigation related to the incident, and no charges have been filed against him.”
Charlotte FC’s spokesman failed to make further comment about the incident surrounding the player.
He has also been cleared by MLS to play for his club. An MLS spokesman declined to comment when asked whether the league truly investigated the Shinyashiki’s case.
The league spokesman also claimed that the league does not make any reports on investigations unless there is a determination that will warrant disciplinary action.
The League spokesman also failed to comment on other issues pertaining to Shinyashiki entering the behavioral health program that was established by the League.
The MLS had registered different players into the programs to take care of incidents of domestic violence and substance abuse problems.
