Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has aimed a dig at critics for what he calls ‘disrespectful’ criticisms of his performances for Manchester United.

Casemiro has seen his Old Trafford fortunes take a wild tumble in the just concluded 2023/24 Premier League season.

Away from his stellar start to life with the Old Trafford outfit, he has struggled this season. A spate of recurrent injuries and underwhelming performances when in action has piled up pressure on the Real Madrid legend.

He was particularly blamed for Manchester United’s loss to Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League and was roasted by Jamie Carragher for another underwhelming show in United’s heavy defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Reacting to the barrage of criticisms on Sky Sports, Casemiro scolded critics for their unfair comments.

According to him, criticisms are part of the game but when it’s not done respectfully, it becomes an issue of concern.

“I was considered one of the best signings of the Premier League last season, and now I’m not.

“The criticism is disrespectful. So when it’s lacking respect, then it’s worrying, and I don’t have to respect that either’.

Casemiro struggled for game time with United this season due to injuries. He made 28 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring a goal with 2 assists.

His goal contribution this term is a stark contrast to his debut tally for the club in which he netted 4 goals with 3 assists.

He also made only 2 Champions League for the club before being grounded with injury.

With United set to overhaul the squad this summer, Casemiro has been earmarked as a top target in the chopping block.

He is among United’s highest-earners with a weekly wage of £350,000. Hence United’s new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is reportedly eager to part ways with the player to cut costs and restructure the squad for higher productivity and improved on-field performance.

The Brazilian midfield sensation was left out of Dorivial Junior’s Brazil squad for the 2024 Copa America due to his fitness issues and poor form. He has been linked to a summer move to Saudi Arabia despite having a year left on his Man United contract.
