    Bruno Fernandes has been voted Manchester United player of the year despite spending less than 8 months at the Premier League club.

    Recall that he joined Manchester United in January 2020 from Portuguese side Sporting CP for a transfer fee worth about €55 million which is the second-highest amount paid for a player playing in Portugal.

    Before he left Sporting CP, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder scored 63 goals and provided 52 assists in 137 appearances within three years of football at the club.

    When he joined Manchester United in January, it was expected that he would become an instant success. And he indeed, he didn’t fail to impress both the coaching crew at the club and the club’s fans in less than a week at the club. He became fans favorite overnight.

    Bruno Fernandes who joined Manchester United when they were still struggling to make it into the top 4, ensured that the club achieved the aim of finishing the league in the top 4. They did that in style even finishing 3rd above Chelsea and Leicester City which was enough to return them to Champions League football.

    With the influence of Bruno Fernandes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was able to push Manchester United very far in the league and in other competitions the team was involved in. They made it to three semi-finals – EFL Cup, FA Cup, and Europa League, thanks to the 12 goals and 8 assists Fernandes provided in 22 games.

    The Portugal international has indeed made himself the best Premier League signing in the 2019-2020 season. No wonder he had to win Manchester United player of the year ahead of other stars that started the season with United.
