Brighton have signed Gambian striker Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United in a deal worth over £30million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Minteh, who spent the 2023-24 season on loan to Eredivisie giants, Feyenoord, is set to complete the move to the East Sussex-based outfit. Agreement has been reached on personal terms, including with his parent club, Newcastle United.
As of the time of filing this report, the youngster has arrived in Brighton and Hove for his medical to seal the move before his final unveiling in a matter of days.

Yankuba Minteh is a Gambian footballer who played as a forward for Newcastle United in the Premier League and is now set to complete a move to Brighton. The Bakoteh-born Gambia international plays as a winger for both club and country. He attracted from Brighton after an impressive loan spell with Feyenoord in the Ditch top flight last season.

Yankuba Minteh began his footballing journey in his home country Gambia. He played for Steve Biko Football Club Academy – a club based in Gambia’s capital city, Banjul, playing in the Gambian elite division.
Following a brilliant campaign with Steve Biko youth, Minteh was scouted to the Netherlands to Odense in southern Denmark where he played for Odense BK Academy in 2022. After an impressive try-out, he penned down his first professional football contract with the club and was promoted to the first team that same year.
The burgeoning young talent got off to a roaring start in the Danish Superliga – the highest echelon of league football in Denmark. He scored on his debut, netting Odense’s match-winner in a 2-1 league win over FC Copenhagen on September 10, 2022. He would go ahead to make 17 league appearances for Odense BK, scoring 4 goals.
On July 1, 2023, Newcastle United signed him for a reported fee of €7million and was loaned out immediately to Feyenoord after the completion of the move. At Feyenoord, Minteh registered 27 Eredivisie appearances, scoring 10 goals.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Minteh has signed a five-year contract with Brighton till 2029. At Newcastle United, Minteh’s annual salary was estimated at £219,000 with his weekly wage measuring up to £4,224. His new salary scale with Brighton has yet to be disclosed.
