German club Bayern Munich had to put a stop to their final training session after a drone was spotted flying over their camp ahead of their clash with Chelsea in the Champions League.
Around 12:15 pm on Friday, the Bundesliga Champions were dotting the Is and crossing the Ts as they prepared for their round of 16 clash with English club Chelsea at the Allianz Arena when a black drone was spotted flying above the Sabener-Strasse training complex.
The security personnel around the complex were quickly alerted, while players and coaches halted their training. It is, however, illegal to fly or spy over private properties.
local police later found out that it was four adults and a child who were controlling the drone and that it was a “harmless flight”.
The police took over details of the individuals who were responsible for the flight and erased all necessary footage that could leak out to unwanted persons.
The adult had said ” I wanted to show my kid what the Bayern Munich training ground looks like”
A similar occurrence had happened in the English Championship which involved Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, when the Leed’s boss was spotted on around Derby County’s training ground before a crucial match in January 2019. An incident that cost both Leed United and manager Marcelo Bielsa fines.
Bayern will host Chelsea in a Champions League of 16 matches at the Allianz Arena with a 3-0 advantage from the 1st-leg in March.
Unfortunately, Bayern has some injury concern as they would be with French winger Kingsley Coman who is suffering from muscle-related injury, while Croatian international Ivan Perisic or Coutinho have been lined up as a replacement. French defender Benjamen Pavard is another causality on the injury list, also with a muscle related injury.
However, Chelsea have alot of injury concern on their hand more than six players out injured. but Bayern coach Flick is not letting the injury news affect their preparation.
“I know Chelsea have a good squad, i know the youth work in England and how they have been bringing out many good players in recent years. They have a team where they can cover positions with young players. we are prepared for that .”
The German team are on the hunt for a treble as they already have the Bundesliga title and the German cup for the season.
