Bayer Leverkusen have extended their unbeaten run to 40 games this season after successfully defeating Fortuna Duesseldorf in the semi-finals of the DFK Pokal.

The Bayer Leverkusen side equals Real Madrid’s 40-game unbeaten record, and they are on the quest to win their first treble in the history of the club.

The Bayer Leverkusen side is well known for their last-gap win this season; they were in total control against Fortuna Duesseldorf in the semi-finals of the German Cup.

Leverkusen’s in-form right-back Jeremie Frimpong scored the opener in the seventh minute of the game, with Amine Adli adding yet another goal in the 20th minute of the match.

Adli’s goal against Fortuna Duesseldorf was the fifth goal in the German Cup. He is currently the highest goal scorer in the tournament. 

In form midfielder Florian Wirtz scored the third goal for Bayer Leverkusen 10 minutes before the first half of the game. The Germans scored yet another goal to extend their lead against the second-division side.

The Serie A team was unbeaten for a period of two seasons. The team comprises legendary players like Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini, Frank Rijkaard, Marco van Basten, Alessandro Costacurta, and Carlo Ancelotti.

In the 1991–92 season, the Serie A team went unbeaten with 22 wins and won 12 out of 34 matches. 

In the 1992–93 season, the AC Milan side only lost two matches, which were against Juventus and Parma.

In quest to win the German Bundesliga title at the end of the season, Bayer Leverkusen will play against Union Berlin on April 6, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.

A win will extend Leverkusen’s lead at the top of the table to 16 points if Bayern Munich fail to win their match against Heidenheim on April 6, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.
