Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye from Croatian club NK Kustosija Zagreb.
The defender has completed his medical examination, signed his contract, and is now set to join Rafa Marquez’s Barcelona Atletico team.
It is believed that Barcelona paid approximately 1.5 million euros to make the transfer successful.
During the summer, Faye was rumored to be considering moves to Chelsea and Dortmund. However, he ultimately decided to join Barcelona.
The contract agreement between FC Barcelona and NK Kustosija Zagreb will see Mikayil Faye stay at Barca for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2027. The transfer deal includes a release clause of 400 million euros.
The 18-year-old Senegalese has successfully completed all necessary medical examinations at the Hospital de Barcelona and the Medical Services of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Additionally, Barcelona reported that the player has visited the Club’s facilities and had the opportunity to step onto the turf of the Johan Cruyff Stadium while wearing the Blaugrana kit.
According to the official statement released, Barcelona announced that they have reached an agreement with NK Kustosija Zagreb for the transfer of Mikayil Faye.
The club wrote” The player will be joining Barcelona for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2027. And a termination clause of 400 million euros is included in the agreement.”
It is expected that Faye will be joining the Barça Atletic team, FC Barcelona feeders team, for the time being.
However, reports suggest that manager Xavi Hernandez intends to closely monitor the teenager during the upcoming pre-season camp next month.
Faye, a left-footed center-back, possesses excellent physical strength and ball-control skills, making him a promising talent in the world of football.
