Out-of-favor Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga leads the list of players set to leave the club this summer. In an interview with the BBC, Lokonga, who spent the just-concluded 2023/24 season on loan to Luton Town, confirmed Arteta has told l him to leave the club.
“For me, I had a discussion with Arsenal and the conclusion was that the best thing for me was to leave the club. Now it’s up to my agent and the club to find something. I still have a contract there, one year plus a one-year option so let’s see what happens,” he told BBC Radio.
Lokonga joined Arse in 2021 for £17.1m from Anderlecht. He has made only 25 Premier League appearances for the club and has spent his last days at Arsenal on loans to Crystal Palace and Luton Town.
Lokonga has now joined the likes of Mohammed Elneny and Cedric Soares, who will leave the club this summer.
