The North London club’s social media team mistakenly posted an X-rated picture while announcing their pre-season game against Nurnberg and this got many supporters shocked. The Gunners played the German team away from home in their first significant preseason match and the game ended 5-2 in favor of Arsenal.

With just one month until the start of the new Premier League season, Mikel Arteta’s team featured summer arrivals, Gabriel Jesus and Matt Turner in the preseason game where Gabriel Jesus scored two goals. The task of promoting the friendly was given to the club’s social media staff and the friendly was streamed live on Arsenal’s website for £5.99.

The social media staff did the promotion by using a stock photo of Nurnberg supporters holding up scarves, but one of them had a pornographic cartoon on it. However, as soon as supporters started pointing out the error, Arsenal’s awful tweet was quickly deleted.

This is coming amid speculation that an Arsenal player identified as Thomas Partey allegedly raped a woman even though police authorities are yet to officially identify the player and the player’s club involved in the rape scandal.

However, that was the only error from the Gunners yesterday as their team fought from behind to win the game 5-3 and kicked off their preseason with a bang, According to Arsenal team news, Turner, the team’s new goalie started and Jesus came off the bench, Fabio Vieira did not play because of an injury he sustained during training while Marquinhos also started the friendly game.

Eddie Nketiah, who scored a hat-trick in a friendly match against Ipswich Town last weekend was in the attack on Friday. Other youngsters Reuell Walters, Salah-Eddine Ould M’hand, Matt Smith, and Lino Sousa were also called up to the squad.

The Max-Morlock-Stadion which has a 50,000-seat capacity and was utilized for the 2006 World Cup hosted the game.

The match between Arsenal and Nurnberg was part of their pre-season tour in Germany and the Gunners have traveled across the continent to see places like the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach. The Premier League club referred to the training facility as “state-of-the-art.” Arsenal has been at the facility for four days and will depart for the United States this weekend.

While in the US, the Gunners will play three more preseason games against Everton, Orlando City, and Chelsea before returning to the UK to take on Sevilla in the Emirates Cup on July 30.

Mikel Arteta and his boys will be hoping to finish in the English Premier League top four next season after they narrowly missed out from it last season.
